This past week E-bike conversion kits were highlighted on Good Morning America.
WOW what an amazing idea right?
As young people go off to college most parents are buying them new or even used cars to send them off. Have you thought about the gas, insurance, and new tires that will be needed along the way?
I today’s economy probably the best thing to invest in is an electric bike conversion kit for that bike they may already own or an e-bike to help them scoot their way around the sprawling campus insuring that they will get to class on time.
I don’t know about you but I can remember not having a car and riding my bicycle everywhere I went. Sure I envied the ones that did have the car but I was not the one that had to park it miles away in the posted lots and still have to ‘run’ to class. Most were late for class every time!!!
If you think about it there is no traffic within a campus, just bike paths and walking paths. The campuses are huge and what better way to conquer that hill or get to class quicker than to hop onto an ebike.
Will you child become a better student?
That is yet to come. But for me there was some drudgery in riding my bike through pedal power alone, I know that I would have been much happier getting onto an ebike and sailing off to class without working up a sweat before I got there.
Then imagine, you the parent will be able to forget about the insurance, parking tickets that will come, traffic violations that will come, parking permits that are outrageous, and may I mention the worry that goes along with your child behind the wheel with so much going on in the car.
To make a long story short, investing in an e-bike for your grad just may be the best investment you could make. They will always find a ride from a friend that does have that car so when the push to have a car themselves comes, stop and consider the alternatives and consider an ebike today as a better alternative.
I know that I would have enjoyed one Greatly!! I bet your son or daughter would appreciate one too…

It’s past time to stop using foreign oil! Maybe we will always need some oil, but we just have to stop depending on Middle East oil. There are 3 fairly easy things that all of us can do now to make a difference. 1- Stop pumping gas into your car! If you have a gas guzzler now, convert it into an electric car (see this blueprint for example). No more gas! 2- Stop using electricity off the electric grid! Either build solar panels (like this one), or build a cheap magnetic generator (like this one). Not very hard! 3- Learn to bike or walk! If you are only going a mile to the shop, walk or bike there. My 2 cents.
