Ebikes Today for a Better Tomorrow

Looking for ebikes that will fit your lifestyle?  Welcome to Ebikestoday.net your source for ebikes and accessories.

What are Ebikes?

Ebikes or electric bikes have generally been around for some time but the idea is being reborn with the energy crisis and people wanting to find a simpler mode of transportation.   They are basically a bicycle with a motor attached to the pedals and ultimately powered by a battery pack.  You can and should from time to time assist the motor by pedaling the bike as well; this pedaling action actually increases the efficiency of the battery, giving you a little exercise as you go, and increasing the distance that you can go.  By law the maximum speed of the ebike is 20 miles per hour and will generally go for 10 to 40 miles depending on terrain and weight of cargo.

Advantages of the Ebike

Some to the greatest advantages of the electric powered bike is enabling people of all ages to get out, get some exercise, run errands and commute to work in a stress free style.  With an ebike you are no longer looking for that parking spot, or waiting in traffic jams.

The motor runs silent and all the electric motors are environmentally friendly, they require very little power to recharge a battery, just a matter of plugging in the battery into an outlet, they do not require a license or insurance, and helmets must be worn where the law requires helmets.   In short an electric bicycle is a perfect choice over a motorcycle or a car.

Different types of Ebikes

As bicycles come in all shapes and sizes so do electric bikes.  Here are just a few:

  • The Electric Scooter.   Not technically being an ebike, electric scooters are what you and most people are more familiar with.  The electric scooter is a great way to get around town, run errands or for younger riders.  They too can reach 15 to 20 miles per hour and will average about forty minutes per charge.  The electric scooter is not highly recommended for main road travel, neighbor roads are best.   The electric scooter will range from a sport type which looks like a skate board attached to a handle, to a tricycle model which gives better balance.
  • The Electric Cruiser.  The cruiser is probably the most comfortable of all electric powered bikes.  They tend to be very solid and will carry a bit of weight and allows the rider to sit comfortably.  While running in full battery mode, the cruiser will reach speeds up to 15 miles per hour, without pedal assistance.  The cruiser does have the option though of pedaling or not but as with all ebikes, assisting the motor increases the efficiency of the battery.  This is a great ebike for the short errands or going to town and grocery shopping.
  • Folding Electric Bikes.  This is the commuter and travelers special.  This bike is perfect for times when it is to close to drive and to far to walk. Folding electric bikes are full sized bicycles that fold up, making it easier to take them with you wherever you go. They are lighter than ordinary bikes or the cruiser ebike and the battery, while adding some weight, does not make it impossible to carry.  So if you are at work you can easily fold it up and take it inside with you without worrying or wondering where you are going to store it.  Or they are perfect for attaching to the back of your RV for your getaways.  Foldable ebikes have an average distance range of 18 to 25 miles on a single charge and will generally travel at 25 miles per hour.  This bike truly is a great combination of convenience, fun, and efficiency.

More About Ebikes

In today’s economy of rising gas prices, we all trying to think of new and innovative ways that we can save and still be able to get around easily and confidently.

If you have ever purchased an ebike in the past then you know how efficient, convenient and fun an ebike can be in your daily life.  On the other hand if you haven’t then let me tell you, you are missing out on exercise and freedom of movement without the guilt.

Unfortunately, the United States is far behind other countries in recognizing the importance of alternative transportation and the use of alternative fuels.  People are just not embracing the idea of electric bicycles for transportation.  As we know the United States has always had a ‘love affair’ with automobiles and will continue to do so.

Buying a new ebike may not be the way for some people here are just a few prices to consider:

If you stop though and figure in the costs of wear and tear on your vehicle and gas this is truly a small price to pay.   The other alternative of course is purchasing a conversion kit.

Weighing out the pros and cons to purchasing an ebike is what you need to do but for the environment and your health there are no alternatives.

Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the piece of writing on your web site. But I am using Flock on a machine running version 9.10 of Xubuntu and the design aren’t quite proper. Not a serious deal, I can still fundamentally read the articles and look for for information, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of hard to use with the config I’m running. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Gale for stopping by.

There are just so many types and uses for e bikes. Kids of all ages can learn to enjoy and take advantage of the many uses. Even for those of us that are getting up in our years and still enjoy the exercise.

I was scanning something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your linear perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read earlier. I am still contemplating over the opposite points of view, but I’m tipped to a great extent toward yours. And regardless, that’s what is so superb about modern-day democracy and the marketplace of thoughts on-line.

  18. Lisa from scooter says:

Great place to look for alternatives to scooters. E-Bikes and Scooters are an economical way to get around in a not so economic-friendly place these days. Look forward to more great resources! Thanks.

As energy prices sky rocket the prices of solar panels will only go up. This will hopefully prove that solar panels will be a great investment for anyone wanting to save some money or help the environment. Either way, solar panels really should be at the top of the “to do” list. Someone has recommended Solar Panels so I am really looking forward to getting them.
